Living With Passion & Purpose

Our Story

Living Design Studios grew out of the European tradition of generational craftsmanship, dedicated to manifesting the vision of others into metalwork. Our founder’s journey began with a deep love of the studio arts. In art school, Jessica Adams discovered that her dedication to quality fabrication stood in contrast to a focus on bold statements and fleeting novelty. Seeking an education rooted in traditional techniques and timeless aesthetics, she traveled to France to complete a formal apprenticeship. Upon returning to the United States, she began focusing on copper repousse and bronze casting. Settling in Boulder, Colorado, Jessica started Living Design in 1994, working out of her home.

As word spread about her design and uncompromising craftsmanship, demand quickly outpaced what she could manage alone. With each new team member, the company expanded in both scale and capability. Jonathan Falk — a General Contractor, accomplished carpenter, and friend since high school — began assisting with installations, and the partnership proved transformative. In 2004, Jonathan officially joined as a partner, propelling the company into its next chapter of growth.

Over the decades, their shared philosophy of quality over quantity has cultivated a loyal client base and positioned Living Design Studios as a trusted partner on some of the country’s most demanding residential and commercial projects.

Through an exceptional team, enduring client relationships, and a relentless commitment to excellence, Living Design Studios continues to push boundaries — elevating the art of architectural and ornamental metalwork for generations to come.

In art school, Jessica Adams discovered that her dedication to quality fabrication stood in contrast to a focus on bold statements and fleeting novelty. Seeking an education rooted in traditional techniques and timeless aesthetics, she traveled to France to complete a formal apprenticeship. Our Roots

  • 1990

Jessica Adams apprenticed in studio arts in Europe. Here she is sculpting a cast bronze wine glass base.

  • 1994

Living Design Studios was founded in 1994, and one of our first major commissions was the copper cladding of an outdoor rock pool.

  • 1996

Jessica and Jonathan Falk at an Art Fair. He brought the wood and she, the copper.

  • 1999

Jessica began with a small group of “Rosies” who embodied grit, skill, and determination.

  • 2000

LDSi added 5,000 square feet with this move in Boulder, CO, right next door to Avery Brewery.

  • 2002

Jessica was a guest on the Lynette Jennings national TV show! She taught Lynette how to emboss copper.

  • 2004

After working together on a few projects, Jonathan joined as a partner after this job at the Friend’s School.

  • 2006

Devin joined the crew as a young man and decades later, he’s still a young man, serving on the LDSi Leadership Team.

  • 2009

We received the Mission Main Street Grant from Chase Bank and Google for $250K. On to even greater endeavors!

  • 2009

The recession hit and these bronze railings at the Denver Judicial Center sustained the company and launched us into the commercial sector.

  • 2011

Corey, known for getting things done is called "The Producer". He’s been here 15 years (give or take) and is now Shop Foreman.

  • 2012

Josh somehow looks (almost) the same today. As our leading blacksmith, he brings deep experience to the team.

  • 2012

Nate has worn more hats at LDSi than anyone else. He is also our resident copper repoussé expert.

  • 2013

With steady growth and an expanding team, we moved into 12,000 square feet in Lafayette, CO — creating space for even greater capability.

  • 2014

Rithy! This guy grew up here and is now a Finishing Maestro. His positivity is infectious.

  • 2014

Since joining LDSi in 2014, Jennifer not only manages Preconstruction, she’s also the “Jen of all Trades”.

  • 2018

In search of a larger facility, we miraculously landed in 20,000 square feet on CARBON Court in Weld County. What could be better for a metal shop?

  • 2021

We were thrilled to receive the ICAA Rocky Mountain Chapter Jacques Benedict Award on this unforgettable evening.

  • 2024

We celebrated 30 years of excellence with a Metalpalooza party for the ages! Everyone who supported us over the decades joined us to mark this milestone.

  • 2025

Receiving another ICAA Rocky Mountain Jacques Benedict Award was truly an honor to celebrate alongside so many passionate classical enthusiasts and skilled artisans.
